Default vacuum advance line for '75 1.8

In the latest release of "Tech Tips 700", George Hussey states (page 79):
"...1974 1/2 -1976 models had only the vacuum retard connected, and a
3-inch piece of vacuum hose connected to the advance port breathing to the wind." Both of the hoses from the distributor's vacuum advance/ retard pot on my '75 1.8 are connected to the throttle body--advance above the closed throttle plate, retard below. This, of course, may not be the way it was when the car was manufactured. Nonetheless, I cannot find anything in the literature I own to verify Mr. Hussey's statement. Can anyone out there shed any light on this?

Mine is as yours. I followed the vacuum line hose diagram on the Pelican site for a 1.8 ljet (mine is also a 75). runs good hooked up that way.
