Insane V8 914 racer
Hey
What do you guys think of this $40k, 500hp V8 powered 914 that's for sale in the classifieds?? Personally, as much of a "bastardization" as some might call it, I think it's the craziest 914 I've seen yet! If I had $40k to blow on a track/****-my-pants car, I'm not sure I could resist that!

I've seen that car a number of times. It's worth every penny in my mind. It's insanely fast.

Would you happen to know where I could find any videos of the car?? It has really peaked my interest (the idea of a project 914 in a couple years has been floating around in my mind, for one) and I'm dying to see it go

I have run with Brian at VIR. The car is awesome....it is magnificently prepared. He was having problems with CV boots, but I assume he solved the problem. An excellent example of what a good engineer can do..I am sorry he is letting it go.

well unfortunately the owner hasn't responded to me email... that's really too bad, I was hoping he might have a clip or two of that beast for us to watch

The owner, Brian, is a good friend of mine. I have watched that car progress over the years. It is NASCAR quality in build. Everything is perfect. I have been in it at Watkins Glen. It is a E ticket ride. I was amased at how well that car handles, forget all the BS about V8's ruining the handling, it's unreal. The power is breath taking. When he accelerated down the back straight, I was trying to lift my head up off the seats headrest. The G force was like an amusement ride.
I have watched this 914 pass Vipers and Ferrari's at the track, it is FAST. He probably has over $60k into that car, not including any of his labor. $40K is a bargain, but I hope he doesn't sell it. (at least until I can afford it ;^))

I ditto what Ed said about the car. I run a black 2.7 modified 914-6.. in DE and some limited club races. I go to VIR with Zone Two...usually once or twice a year. The car gets heavy use at Watkins Glen where over the last twenty years we have driven about 10K laps.

Nice! ...do you guys know if Brian has any videos of the car? I'm assuming he has some in car shots at the least. That car is incredible, I'm dying to see it at least in video.
