912E engine miss @ 3500-4000rpm
912E w/ 102k miles. Couple of issues I need some Rennlist guidance on.
First, I'm somewhat mechanically, savvy, but not a Porsche tech, so I may need some layman explanations/guidance.
912E with recent valve adjustment, timing adjustment, new stock plugs, new plug wires, switch from points/condenser to Pertronix.
Hard to start at beginning of day. Seems like I have to crank it too many times/too long for car to start. Gets started, and settles into idle around 1k rpm, but jumps a little.
Next, when I get going, the engine seems to "miss" about 3.5-4k rpm...then continues to rev out ok. Oddly, it didn't do it every time I accelerated...probably 80% of time.
Any thoughts on remedies? Thank you for the help!
Eric

Had one for many years. Carb conversion or old fuel injection? I guess it doesn't matter as the engine is still a VW type 4 pancake. If you can find an old VW mechanic they'll fix you up quickly. Ask around. Those old VW guys are getting scarce.
