1965 Model Question
Hello - I'm new to the 912 forum. Spend most of my time over on the newer 911 pages. I've always wanted a classic Porsche and now I'm purchasing a 1965 912. Always loved the looks and understand the handling is wonderful. Anyway, this one was born on 7/06/65, serial 350309, with 70K miles. It was originally delivered to an owner in Holland and made it to the States about 10 years later. Anyway, one of the things about it is that the dash panel plate is wood. It appears to be a solid piece, aged and not a paste on. Do any of the forum members know whether this was an option back then? My brief research doesn't indicate that is was. Anyone have knowledge about it? Thanks.

Ask on here http://www.912bbs.org/vb/forum.php and join the Registry. World of info. Click on top where it says 912 help. Not 912E help.

To my understanding most of the '65 912s were 5 guage dash and wood. This is what mine was. It's a pretty unique old car. Enjoy it and now for the gratuitous, "How about some pictures of your car?"

Sorry. I thought the '65 was three gauge. Like this one:

Those are both '66 MY with '65 prodates. Either ignorant sellers or wiley sellers trying to put one over on unknowledgable buyers.

Very cool Jim. More pictures please. The 912Registry is a great place to get any and all the info you could possibly need. I do venture onto the ESR for chassis, interior and suspension questions as well since both cars are pretty much the same other than the power plant. More pictures!
