Why would you want to do this? It's doable, but why?

I think I found the answer. You've had the car for almost nine years now and it's just sitting. Ouch. Guessing you have got an estimate on a rebuild that just seems insane. Sorry to see this.

There are sites that sell the engine/trans adapter plates. Look into the '76 912E while you are at it. Oh, duh.

I wouldn't do it. Will kill the value of the car. Is your 2.7 dead or in need of a rebuild. Source a decent SC 3.0 and pull the 2.7.

I would think all the associated parts to put a 912 engine in the car, plus the cost of the engine could end up costing close to what you would spend on a used 3.0.

There's a used running 2.4 CIS engine in this month's Panorama for $1500.

No affiliation....

Yeah at one point I may put the 6 back.
I had a 912E it was a nice driver, The car will be driven by my young girls, Not sure I want to much power in their hands. Plus mpg would be better with the type 4. The car will stay in the family. I own 2 other fun cars 1973 2.0 914 and 1973 1.7 soon to have a transplant.

I have the engine and it bolts right on. Looking for a way to mount it without doing any damage.

Hi oldschool--

I built a '77 targa version of the car you're planning to build. Over the years I've made the car as nice as I can make it. I do have a time-cert 2.7 and a big valve 3.0 liter if I want to go that route. If you have any questions about the assembly or how to acquire the parts send me an e-mail and I give you the particulars.
