Poking my head in here.
OK, I kinda reintroduced myself to this forum after a loooooooooooong absence over in the 914 area. I'm going to poke my head in here and help discuss things because...
a) apparently I'm into Porsche's red-headed stepchildren, and
2) my Dad has a '66 912 that he bought from a cousin awhile back. We're kind of in process of cleaning some other projects out of his way so he can work on the 912.
No pics at present - I'll take care of that next time we go down to Texas. Original red paint AFAIK, or if it's been resprayed it's been a long time. Overall in pretty good shape. Dad's cousin was a VW mechanic - the original motor has been replaced with a 1600 DP, but he still has the original motor with the car.
In the long run, I think Dad wants to fix this thing up for my son, who is currently 11. I'm thinking this won't be his first car tho - I plan on making him drive one of my old VW Foxes around for awhile first.
