Post Turbocharging 912's it can be done !

I have successfully turbocharged my 912 and have enjoyed 5,ooo trouble free miles - if you do it right. This is the answer for all of you who write in wanting more reliable power from your 912. I have now moved on to other Porsche projects ( a 944 purchased for $500.00 and a 1988 911 Carrera that had an electrical fire )but I still have the engine on a stand waiting for another donor car to come my way. My 912 was a concours original 67,000 mile car and the new owner wanted the original engine reinstalled to compete in the preservation class. So I removed the turbocharged engine and all associated hardware and returned the car to original. Yes this can be done without hacking up your car or compromising its originality. Of course what a great outlaw car it would make - if you didn't care about originality.
Engineering is based on components proven by VW Performance companies in California. Of course they have to be modified to work on a Porsche engine but all of the really hard work and research has been sorted out for years now. Oh, I forgot to mention that this engine also has electronic fuel injection and ignition, all controlled by a modern GM computer and components. I worked with CB Performance throughout this project - they are the leader in turbocharging VW engines and have years of experience. They have learned how to correctly modify air cooled engines for racing and the street, with total reliability. If anyone out there wants more information I'll be glad to respond. I am now corresponding with PCNA about my project so I can share what I have learned with fellow 912 ( and 356 ) owners. Some of you may have seen my car at Hershey 2001, it was well received. I am planing to attend Hershey 2003 - in search of a new home for my engine.
Thanks, Mike Hartman

That's great! I'm passively looking for a pcar, ideally either a 69-73 911 s or e, or a 912. The thought of a 912 with decent power sounds real nice from a handling standpoint. What kind of power output would you estimate the motor had? Thanks.

At 8 lbs. of boost CB Performance estimated 165 hp.The boost is ajustable up to 14 lbs. which is too high for pump gas or engine life. I started at 5 lbs. until the rings were seated then bumped it uo to 8 which is perfect for street driving and reliability. Mike
