What engines can fit in a 912?? 911???
I'm looking at a 1966 912 that has a volkswagen engine in it and I want to know if its possible to put a 911 engine in there and use the same transmission. What other engines will work? will I have to get the same year, or could I use a newer model? Any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks again, -Alex

Hello
Depending on your goal it is very easy to bolt up all engines from the 1946 24 HP type 1 beetle to the 993 TT.
All 911/912 up to 1970 shared the same base transmission. With the 2,2 came a other clutch on the 911 and the 914 replaced the 912.
As your enginemounts are locatet forward the 6 swap isn´t a direct bolt up.

ok ya'll, I have started the process to install an upright T-4 into a 66 912. After lots of searching, I finally found a rear motor mount (bar) from a 912E at 20th St Auto Parts in Phoenix. What I wasn't ready for is the fact that it is 10" longer than the early bar(5" on each side). Any ideas now as to how(and where) to mount the thing?
