996 lite?
Think about it for a second.....
Water cooled
Fuel injected
Turbo charged (and though this one is not, it can be easily intercooled)
300 reliable horsepower out of 4 cyl and not weighing much more than the 912 engine. Certainly less than a 911 engine and accompanying dry sump oil system.
Forget for a minute that it's in 'Speed Buggy' and try to see the big picture and benefits. An try not to be blinded by the BLING.
It will bolt up to a 901. It's like a 4 cyl 996 with more freakin' hp!
Oh so tempting......

OK, I knew an STi guy would be in my corner on this one You see my vision.
900hp ultimate potential, ok so it's probably a grenade, but that's impressive. I don't see many 6cyl 911s even attempting that.

I know it does not seem so, but I am a purist. I also know the limitation of a 42yr old push-rod engine. My 912 is fantastic as is, but I am a car guy and when it comes to hp and go-fast goodies, I'm all over it. I have come to terms that since we are the original owners of my 67' 912, I will never ever sell it. I've owned dozens or Porsches 356 to 996 in parallel, but the 912 has been and will always be my car of choice. Even on the track. So, I've resolved to constantly improve and evolve it to perfection, which is where it is today. The only thing I'm ever left wanting for, is a few more ponies. I am also practical. That said, you can spend $8,000.00 to rebuild a 912+ (150hp max) engine OR $8,000 to build a hotrod Type I (180 max) OR $8,000+ to do a 911 conversion (too heavy) $10,000+ to build a hotrod Type IV
(180 max) OR you can embrace technology and step into the 21st century with the Suby water boxer (300hp+) for the same investment. To me it's a no-brainer.

Thanks Harry, I will look him up!! I know it's heresy, but it's to the point where rebuilding a 912 engine is as much as a 911 rebuild and you can do this deal for much greater bang for the buck....
