Default lost ignition key !!

My little boy is wonderful but unfortunately has a habit of sneeking things out of the house and losing them - so now i have no ignition keys for my 69 912 !

I only ever had one key that worked on the doors and the ignition - endless attempts at getting copies made with nothing that ever worked so now i have a lonely car in the garage.

Whats the best place to start ? do i take the ignition apart looking for part no.s ? Where can i get a key made that will work ?

Help please.

You'll need to either pull the ignition lock, or get the key code for it, and then send it somewhere. Dunno why you've not been able to have a key made locally, I have a local (to me) locksmith who was able to custom make a set of keys for my 356 using generic blanks and a dremel, and then the key cutting machine. If you can send the ingition to the US, there is Tony The Key Man - well respected in the 356 circle. PM me if you need me to dig up his address.

call Tony Euganeo in Pennsylvania (610.461.0519). he is the ultimate key guy for early porsches. he will tell you what info he needs, and will make a key for you from that. i think you will need to remove the ignition switch and look on the side of the cylinder and find the key code and give him that code. anyways he will cut you a key on a factory blank from that code and you will be back in business in no time.

You could try your Porsche centre if you bring your chassis number.

If that does not help you could try Porsche classic in Stuttgart. they should be able to find the key code from the chassis number (assuming the locks are original)
