Default 912 immobilisor + keyless entry ?

Hi Guys

I have to fit an immobiliser to my 1966 912 for insurance reasons.

Now here is my dilema, I am going to fir the transponder type so there is not extra key pads on the dash.

Question. Do I fit central locking at the same time and if so do i go go for keyless entry at the same time.

Not sure whether to just do the immobiliser and leave everything else as god intended.

Cheers
Rob

Depends on your insurance agent. I got the anti-theft discount after handing my agent the ignition key for my 356... and I had the transmission lock engaged

I'd leave alone as much as you possibly can.

never heared of the insurance companies doing that over here
i second steve.. adding high tech new gizmo's like this will be a pita because of one more thing to work on, or one more thing that could break (and have a great chance of lowering your value of your car!). so keep it as stock as possable

id check with the 912 owners in england for suggestions on what they've done in regards to this issue. id ask gavin in the uk 912 register or the guys on the DDK website.

Hi Harry

I am picking the car up next week at last, 6 weeks in shipping. Spoke to my insurance guy who does the 964 and got a very cheap quote, the only stipulation was the immobiliser, to be covered for theft.

I have posted on a couple of boards to get a general consensus (DDK also). Most people have come back saying keep as stock as possible so I think thats what i will do. The immobiliser has to be thatcham 2 category (Fuel pump/Starter motor), this is well known in the UK, maybe we have more car thefts?

Will post some picks when she arrives
Cheers

Thatcham 2 is an immobilizer, Thatcham 1 is a full alarm system. UK insurers can be very picky when it comes to alarms / immobilizers.

If you were in the UK I could recommend a traveling alarm guy.

I had a Toad AI606 fitted with the Duel Zone Proximity for £320 on a 300ZX in 2002 in London. I was very happy with the unit and extra motors were available to activate the door locks if needed. I remember each door motor being about a 100 quid.

If I was having hte alarm installed I would go ahead and have the door locks motorized as well.
