cheesey chrome paint jopb will look silver and ****ty.. not really a good way to go, unless you dont care (im assuming you do care cause youre asking).
what year again? are they the brass ones or pot metal ones?
how pitted are they? depending on how bad they are, they may be restorable. you will have to send em to a chrome shop who will have to fill in the pits etc.. rechrome.. if they are horible and cant be restored they will tell you.
you can buy the plastic replicas, but these are poor to be honest. a pair of crappy plastic ones that dont fit well at all, and the chrome paint looks like crap after one year for 40 bucks. (i had a set and was pretty pissed when i saw they didnt fit right). to be honest.. they are a waist of 40 bucks.
go to www.912bbs.org they can tell you of a few shops who have rechromed theirs and what to look for etc. (several have had it done, just cant remember whom)
