Default Can you turn a 930 into a 2.8 RSR look?

I've been following the development of Jack Olsen's 3.6lt "2.8 RSR"

and I really like the look of the rear part of the car, especially the light pod, thin bumper and the duck tail.

Realizing that ANYTHING is possible if you spend enough money...

My question is, is there any way to do this WITHOUT it all being custom fab work?

i.e. will the rennspeed rear RSR panels and bumper fit a 930, or is it strictly <73

and will the ducktail fit?
will the 930 intercooler get enough air?

Just pondering, and thank you in advance,

ducktail won't fit with an intercooler. It provides no additional room then a standard deck lid would. Of course you can ditch the intercooler like the <'78 turbos. But that isn't recomended. Also the tea tray was a bit better at keeping the rear end down.

Wrong,

The "duck tail" will fit the stock intercooler (mine is a 78) however you will need to notch one area on the fiberglass that is not visible externally so that the lid closes all the way. I also cut out some of the fiberglass (4'' x 10") that covered the cooler matrix and replaced it with a painted black screen. Everyone who notices it says it looks very factory. I did the work myself and its really easy.

Unfortunatly I am a computer moron and cant figure out how to put images of my RSR lookalike on the forum. If you email me I'll send you some jpeg of my car.

Oh.... let me add, my car has about 410 HP with no heating problems and also has a set of factory RSR magnesium centerlock (9/12 x 15) wheels on it.

Cheers, Paul

Those aren't the same wing on both of Jack's photos, ARE they? So, he's not running a conventional duck or does he have one for the street and one for the track?

From what I have gathered he went with the 3.0 IROC wing first (as seen in the rear shot) and then moved to the ducktail.

From what I can tell he goes with a double 'banana wing' for the track.

I knew this is what he had done (the race wing) on BB1, but unsure here. Maybe Mr. Olsen can give us an update on this and this winters future plans for BB2 for all of us who dream through his wallet. I'm probably in the odds here, but a product of Turbos as icon in my youth sways me towards the IROC. Looked at an IROC this summer and regret not buying. It was priced right, but I hesitated.

Hey, guys. I didn't know this thread existed until now.

I have a 3.6 in a 1972 tub. It's normally-aspirated, so I don't have any intercooler fit issues. I run four different decklids and tails -- a ducktail, an IROC tail, a retractable 964 tail, and a 3.8RSR with a wider wing and extensions. Since I use a prop bar instead of the gas springs to hold them up, it's an easy switch.
