Default Autoweek article, July 11 issue on 930

Interesting and highly praiseworthy article on the 930 in this weeks issue of Autoweek. Nothing earth shattering or new, just a good informative article about our beloved car. Though, I did have to laugh at the Hagerty valuation on p. 17 at $280-350k price today. Not sure where those prices are being found, unless it's a complete garage queen with about 200 miles lol.

Haggerty is soooo off base anymore it seems. If you were an insurance company, of course you would want to inflate prices as high as possible in order to justify what they charge for insurance. Last time I checked I think they wanted $1300/month for my '87, based on their top-dollar resale assessment. That's just off their "quick quote" web page, but enough to scare me away. But hey, if they're in the market I would gladly sell mine to them today for a check on Tuesday (old fart Popeye the Sailor and Whimpy hamburger stuff, if you're clueless)

I agree. I think they're "in the ballpark" on say class/level 3 cars but ~$300k? Haven't seen one yet sell for that. Am I missing something? I know the market's "down" about 10-20% since its height but good, clean cars are still topping $100k with ease in SoCal. Certainly no where close to Hagerty's valuation though.

I switched to Grundy. Almost half of Hagerty.

Are you happy with Grundy? Any drawbacks (perceived or otherwise)?

They seem to be OK but you never know till it comes to how a claim is handled. Haven't been down that road yet. No charge for the bad pun.

I posted before my that my brother hit some debris in his 930 that took out many bits including his turbo and Hagerty covered it.

The one that I really don't trust is Leland West. The girl I talked to said that running an occasional errand was not allowed under their policy.

Not sure if its just older 911's that have ridiculous values at Hagerty,, but I wonder how many just happen to go "missing" & full value claims paid at $300k? A 930 is easy to steal, Not Sure of Full Story: One went missing here at Scottsdale Porsche a few years back with gates, But I think that might have been a set up, they had just taken it in on trade or something.

you guys got me thinking, since my Hagerty bill is due. I called Grundy and was not as pleased with the 2 people I spoke with, nor the restrictions they rapidly spewed forth. Going to dinner is allowed, but running an errand or stopping at Kroger while on my monthly battery/fluids happy-run is a huge no-no. Likewise, driving to work once a month is not allowed. Getting worried, I called Hagerty, and they said "no problem, sir" Even said my trip to The Tail of the Dragon in my 2013 Boss 302 was ok, since it was "hobby related". and also, I could drive the Boss to work 20 plus times a year and stop anywhere along the way. I upped my premium a bit just in case I wanted to drive it once a week and not feel guilty. The guy did say driving from, say, Florida to the Hamptons would be considered too risky, but from Georgia to the hills of N.C. or Tenn. for a night or 2 is fine. I still wont drive my 930 more than once a month. Never have. I know its meant to be driven. Sorry.
