MZNBLEU....No doubt they did a good job to a beautiful car but why did they not go the extra step and clean the fan and the housing and replate the housing strap...attention to detail is a huge plus when time comes to sell

LOL, literally minutes ago! I knew there would be a thread I bet a new one soon

Is it me or is BJ & Mecum, just not the place for Porsches in general. A few ring the bell but on the whole I see more of what I think are bargains than crazy prices.
Gooding & Co and Bonhams clearly different, am I right?

BJ ain't the place to sell early turbos. An '86 930 sold for 74k and an andial '96 993 tt did 150k. Barret is really a muscle car crowd, Porsches have historically been skinny sales, f cars fare a little better.

Wow, I went to sleep before the red 505 car came up, that was the deal of the century.

Not sure speed...good/fair question...I know a lot of decisions were to keep it looking original/period correct, and to try to keep down costs a little...hah, that's a good one coming out of my mouth !...

Adds up doesn't it? There was a bit more than just a "rebuild". Clutch and tires for starters.

Did they provide measurements of all the components that went out for machine work? Hope you kept all the old parts

Sure looks like it, I've never seen so many P-cars at @ BJ before, must be the neighborhood. It went on the block near the very end last night. I dont think the Surgeon nor I would have hallucinated the same thing...he does have a prescription pad though

It was the last car that went thru, they hammered it sold at 60, didn't say a word about a reserve. I'm just going by what the idiot announcers said.
Re Hal's car, that's the going price for a while you're in there rebuild. They cost a small fortune to fix, that's for sure.

TT..since I recorded it..you can see where it says reserve...it was the last car as you said. At $60k that would have been one heck of a sale.

Your're not kidding on the small fortune...luckily the values have gone up to sort of justify the spend. It's funny I was at an Alfa repair shop a few days ago asking them what it would cost to rebuild and modify a 1300 engine into a 1750 ...he sort of hesitated and told me $5-7k. He thought I was going to faint at the cost...honestly I laughed inside. He asked me how much I've spent on my engine...I refused to answer..lol
