Default A New Addition: 1978 930

Few months ago, I got a call from one of my childhood friend (whom I haven't spoken to in years) who heard from another one of our friend (who I speak to regularly) congratulating me for my 997. We caught up on old days of racing bikes and goofing around on skateboards back in the late '80s and the conversation steered towards "Porsches".

He had a 964 with a Chevy 350 swap and sold it, but he's always had fond memories of that car....

Then he says something like "hey, I know a local guy who may still have his 911. I don't know if he ever drives it."
Me (with perked up ears): "ok.... get me his info", "what year?" "what color?" , etc...
Him: "I don't know... I'll see if I can get his phone number."

Next day he sends me a txt with the guy's info, so I cold call him (Seller) but letting him know that I was a friend of a friend of his friend... Yes..several degrees of separation indeed.

Seller says he has a 1978 930!!! and asks "do you know what a 930 is?".
Sure I replied... So we set a time later that week for me to take a look at the car and we agreed on a price. I didn't take my trailer on the first meet, so we made arrangements the following week.

After handing over some cash and handling the paperwork, I carefully drove back with a very nice 930!!

It's got 80k, numbers match, got the Cert from Porsche in the other day.

Hoping to get everything checked out over the next few weeks, sort out the fuel distributor issue and see how it rolls.

Marc in ATL.

Congrats man! Cool color. Hope it doesn't need too much work to get her up and running the way you want. Sweet find, I have a somewhat similar story on something I just purchased yesterday. I'm gonna post it soon. Welcome to the 930 club. Slainte!

psp, nice find!

The Fuchs look like they've been left in original condition, a plus for many. The early 3.3 930's are very enjoyable cars to drive when set properly due to their lighter weight and, "noisy" floating rotors (lol). Post more pics and info when you're able.

Thanks gents..
AFAIK, I'm the 4th owner. The car was first owned by ***** Herold (Porsche dealer) in Columbus, GA back in the 70s/80s.

We had to remove the front spoiler because the location of the seller's garage was at a very steep angle. I barely got the trailer backed in.

BTW, the seller also has an '82 Ferrari GTSi for sale!!

More photos attached. The Fuchs look really good as noticed above.

Marc

On the CoA, under "Optional Equipment" it states "Equipment for Germany".

Production Completion Date: 06/1978

YEs, what made me ask is that it has the marker light on each fender (euro), but US marker/turn signal assy in bumper. Great color.
