Default Does a 8:39 R&P effect speed accuracy?

Need to know if a R&P will fool me in thinking that I'm going a certain speed when I'm really going faster? If so what is done to compensate for this change?

Thanks,
Brent

Thanks John, I know you have the R&P and sure you have checked this out on the street or when you dynoed your car.

Brent, FWIW the speedo on my car reads 5mph fast, always has and may help explain why I've had no tickets in her

I do believe, though, the speedo is affected by tire diameter and that may explain the 5mph difference.
That's been my experience as I'm running 245-45-16, which have an overall diameter of 24.6". I think that may be different from the original tire equipment. I've seen diameters (TireRack.Com) for the same size tire vary from 24.8" to 24.3", which changes the tire rotation-per-mile from a high of 858 to as low as 839 revolutions. That would definitely affect a speedo.
