Removing Passenger Seat w/ Broke Switch
I have a 87 930 and my passenger seat was stuck in the most rearward position. I had a bright idea and thought it might be the switch. So I took the switch apart. I had no idea what I was getting into, and lost half of the springs and stuff in the switch.
I have a new switch, but cannot reach half of the connectors to install it. Even after getting it installed, my seat would still be stuck in a rearward position.
Anyone got any ideas on what I could do to fix this problem?

The only way to get the seat out now is to raise it to the highest point if you have that adjustment and undo the bolts from the rail to the bottom of the seat. I am not talking about the rail to rail, rather the actual mounts to the seat is self.

I am going to bet that one of the bolts that hold the seat to the rail has come part way out and jambed. If I am correct it is a bitch to get that bolt screwed in so you can move the seat and remove it

Thank you for your replys. I do not have the ability to adjust seat height. I was able to get the nut off of the front right side of the seat. I took out the buttons and was able to get a 3/4" open ended wrench in there too loosen it.
I am having a rather difficult time getting to the nut that is on the front left side of the seat, and cannot even see the nuts that are in the back.
Are there any tools/techniques that anyone recommends (keeping in mind that I cannot move my seat up or down, or back to front).

I was just kidding. Don't cut it out with a torch.
You may want to take it to an upholstery shop and pay them $20 just to unbolt the seat. They'll waste all day on it if necessary.

Why does your seat not move? I know you replaced the switch, but what is actually keeping it from moving? No power? Broken motors? There has to be a way to adjust your seat some, so you can get to bolts.
Did you try to install the conections with out installing it in the side? Reach under the seat from the front or back and attach the wires?
Good luck.

Tom, if yours are 4-way power seats I can understand the problem. Does it look like you can't access the rail bolts from the position the seat is locked in?
I had a similar situation happen with my 951 cabrio. The seats are 4-way and the driver seat happened to die right on top of the front bolts in such a way that I couldn't reach them. Depending on where the seat switch has died, there's a chance you can use the switch to roll the seat bench in the opposite direction and access the bolts through the holes in the top of the rails. The 951 seats have them, and yours may too.
Once you have the holes right over the bolts, using a small ratchet with an extension and an allen head socket, you can undo the bolts and pull them up through the holes.
