76 Turbo stereo help!
Hi.
The original stereo is missing from my -76 but I found a stereo which I believe is almost the same as the stock unit. I need help sorting a few questions so please advise!
1. The second unit in the pics I dont know if they came stock in -76 but if so where was it located?
2. The blaupunkt only has outputs for 2 speakers but the car has 4. Did the stock stereos come with some sort of middle stage for additional speakers?
3. The stereo I found no longer has it's original plastic surround but now has another from a clarion that do not fit correctly in the panel of the car. Can I get the correct Blaupunkt surround (as in the pic) somewhere?
Regards
Peder

I believe that radio is a model CR used in 1978-79 and maybe later porsche's, it also looks correct for US cars. The 76's used a Bamberg- close but a little different. The radio bezels are available in Europe - I can dig up a contact if that is helpful.

I wasn't able to find a Bamberg but atleast this CR looks right in the panel.
Please I would very much like to get in contact with whom ever got the correct bezel.
Did the Bamberg have outputs for 4 speakers? And do you know where the second unit in the pic is supposed to be mounted?

Peder, You can find the faceplates here:
Old Timer Radio
The second unit you have mounts to the backside of the passenger side floorboard.
There are only two outputs for speakers so you need to connect both front and back to one channel.

Thank you very much John! I will get one of those bezels.
So both front and back was connected to one channel from factory?

Yes the -76 -77 came with Bambergs with mic but my question was did they have 4 outputs for speakers since the cars have 4 speakers? The Blaupunkt CR I found only has 2 outputs for speakers so I have to put 2 speakers on each output but maybe that was how it was done from factory also on the Bambergs?!

for sure you are right about that but I want the correct look. Before the PO had installed modern flashy neon thing that was NOT really "looking right" in the dash.
