I thought so. Where else can you get a running and driving 930 with no rust for that?

Congratulations! Looks like a good car.
Take your time and plan out whatever you decide to do with the car.

It came with upgraded pads, upgraded bilstein shocks, upgraded torsion bars, weltmeister rear swaybar and weltmeister front strut brace. The P O showed me some great photos of it at the glenn. Oh and it has a b&b exhaust. All things I am more than okay with.

The price seems fair for the apparent condition from the photo. Any information on what the damage was and who repaired it? I agree with Last930 you can drive and enjoy without the concern of damaging a $100K collector.

Default Salvage 930

I can't find any damage. No ripples in any frame rails, no welds, no floor pan damage, no bondo. I have no information about the repair, but the P O said the original owner was some sort of ball player in FL and he had thought he had run something over and damaged the drivers front suspension underneath. The guy was drunk for the 3 days of negotiations. ....soooo... its a bit of a mystery. Whatever it was, it couldn't have been that bad. I have a very good body guy coming to look at it today. We'll see what he says.
This weekend shes getting a new cap, rotor, ignition wires, distributor wire, air filter, fuel filter, fuel accumulator, spark plugs, oil change, a couple of small hoses replaced, a brake flush, a wur cleaning and I think thats it.

In the old days it was more subjective to get your vehicle "totaled" after an accident. So this car may actually not have anything significant wrong with it.

I had the same discussion with my friend today. 1995 was probably a low point in its value. Hence the salvage history and zero damage evidence found. I am feeling luckier by the minute!

I just checked the carfax again. It was late 1998 when the car was issued the salvage title, and early 1999 when it was issued the rebuilt title. Either way, I think the same theroy in values still rings true.

Oops. Deleted my original remark -- I misread your note. Looks like you got a decent car at a fair price. Have fun.

Congrats sounds like you got a decent deal. Now it would be best to get her running to do a compression and leak down test. Then remove the engine and tranny and do any and all necessary repairs and parts replacement while the engine is out for the tranny. Plus a valve adjustment may be a good idea.

Looks like you got a great car! That's a killer price as well, even when factoring in the necessary mechanical work. Hope you turn her into one hell of a driving car and spread the Porsche gospel! Have you gotten a prospective price on your repairs yet?

Not yet. Too busy with life to dive into it yet. I wouldn't say I am dragging my feet, but I am for sure taking my time. I was looking at a malhe 3.4 piston and cylinder set and a wevo "classic shifter online last night, contemplating the direction I want to go. I believe this car will stay a driver for its entire life with, and after me. Given the history combined with the "drivers car" status, I think upgrades are necessary, but keeping it classic in the process will be important.
