Porsche NA 1976 911 Turbo Debut Car (?)
I have come across a 1976 Turbo Carrera that is believed to be the Porsche NA debut car in the United States in 1976 at the LA Auto Show. The car is polar blue, apparently 1 of 2 in this color for a 1976 turbo Carrera.
The VIN is 9306800374
Can anyone confirm these details?

9306800374 is correct for a NA 1976 930 however that VIN seems much too high for a debut car as it is over half way thru the VIN sequence for NA '76 930's.
The first NA 1976 930 VIN is 9306800011. Numbers below 0011 were reserved for prototypes and test vehicles on 930's in the '70's.

That car would have been built April- May of 1976, I don't know when LA auto show was in 76 but I would think the US debut car would of had very low serial #.

Porsche Turbo Carrera # 9306800041
This car was specifically built for the U.S. debut of the Turbo Carrera at the 1975 New York Auto show. Most of the history comes from documents and literature supplied by Mr. Mehrhoff. He was an active PCA member, and the president of the local Mardi Gras chapter in 1999. He had a great deal of knowledge of the local Porsche community the complete history of chassis #41.
1976 • mileage 217 • Dr. Joe Liccardi, a New Orleans doctor who either fully owned or, at the very least, owned a significant interest in a local Porsche dealership at the time. He special ordered 9306800041 for himself and took delivery of #41 from Porsche North America after its debut in the 1976 New York Auto show (which was actually in late '75) .
1985 • mileage 16,119 • Mr. Patrick Taylor, an oil magnate who drove the car very little and kept it garaged in Mississippi.
1989 • mileage 17,662 • Lloyd Hawkins, a New Orleans Porsche restorer/racer/collector. Mr. Hawkins owns Rennsport Porsche, a Porsche shop in Harahan, LA. He owns cars such as the 1980 Le Mans winning Porsche 935 and the Repsol #7 962C. He's been an active collector/racer for many years. Mr. Hawkins had his factory trained chief mechanic went through the car and brought the engine and running gear up to top mechanical condition. The case has been opened, but as far as we know nothing internal was modified - simply freshened.
1995 • mileage 25,898 • Mr. Jouhlas, a New Orleans resident traded his 944 for 9306800041. He had planned to drive the car daily to work in the city, but he quickly realized the car was too nice and too pristine to drive daily so he went back to the dealership and traded back the 930 in for his old 944
1996 • mileage 26,574 • L. Mehrhoff – (April ‘96) PCA Chapter President
2001 • mileage 39,265 • E. Emerson
2003 • mileage 41,022 • B. Lobdell Aeronautic Engineer, vintage Healey racer
2006 • mileage 43,792 • C. Goldsborough, (Jan ’06)
