Hi all, I just signed up today and I wanted to introduce myself. I Have a 1979 930. I've had it for 12years sitting and not done anything to it. I bought it as is with the motor out of it. I wanted to start working on it this year and that's why I joined this forum maybe to get some helpful advise and recommendations when I need it.

7930,
First off, I like your screen name. Very appropriate.
Second, VERY correct '79 930. Parts and patina look correct for mileage. Light Blue Metallic is a favorite of mine. Last photo shows rear cross member as silver but likely could be lighting issue. Has car been repainted? Are engine and transmission matching numbers? If so if you put the car together it is quite special. You do not see many this original.
Can you post your VIN and confirm the build date?
Congratulations on your 930. Put it back together, the early 3.3's are exciting cars to drive!

Very nice, original car, thank you for posting. I love looking at early 930s/ Scs with California blue plates, takes me back. This and Pelican Parts are great websites for your car, but the most technical and informative is on ferrari chat under "79 porsche 930." Curious on the origination of the car and the dealer info. Chassis/Engine/Tranny numbers? Welcome aboard, there's a lot of knowledge on here.

The crossmember color is light blue. I believe this car is all original, but I'm not sure of the et brake light??? Excuse me for being such a newb, but where do I find the engine and tranny numbers and how will they match with each other and with the car?
Here is a pic of the VIN and build date...

I'd start out by ordering a COA through PCNA-http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessoriesandservices/porscheservice/ownerservices/certificateofauthenticity/
This will have engine & tranny serial number listed, options paint and interior codes. Have fun great cars!

If you are looking for originality, your tail lights should be red not amber.
Fuchs should be 7X16 and 8X16 black center, anodized satin lip.
Engine number is on right side flat machined area on fan shroud and the engine type is just in front of it on the flat in front of the pressures gauge.
The transmission number is on the machined flat surface on the bottom center
The engine numbers will roughly correspond in relationship to the type and the build sequence for your NA 930. Transmission number will roughly correspond in relationship to ALL ’79 930’s (NA/Japan/RoW) for the total chassis’ produced thru your build of 1/79.
Order a Cert of Auth as pur911rsr suggests in the previous thread, it should confirm the correct numbers.

Thank you everyone for your input! There's lots to be learned especially the Porsche "lingo"
I assume "NA" is North America. What is the RoW stand for? What is Fuchs? What is PCNA stand for? Sorry for all the questions! Being a typical newb!
