Interested in 930, can I find one in my pricerange?

The SC was a normally aspirated 911 sold from 78-83, an excellent car and in your price wheel house. The 74 turbo was a prototype used a show car, millions of dollars if you could locate it. The most reasonable 930's are the 80-85 grey market cars decent ones are going to be $45k +.
Good Luck,

My Turbo CAB needed a major service to also include a new clutch and trans work, A/C rebuild, new canvas top, cables, window, brakes and tires. At least 10-12 grand that I knew of. A local rennlister offered to buy my car for $40.000 as it sat in the shop, before the major service work.
I took the money. I'll let you know in ten years if I screwed up.

The 3.0 SC is not a turbo/930. It's a normally aspirated engine. The '75-'77 turbos were referred to as 911 turbo, turbo carrera, 930. The most expensive part of a 911/930 is the motor. A complete 930 engine rebuild by a reputable shop can easily set you back $20+k.
The '75-'77 930's are at the top of the 930 collector market.

To OP...
You realize we are in an EPIC bubble, even larger than that of 2007-08....and it may have already began its descent. I remember seeing some great deals in 930's after the 2008 bubble popped.....guys saying I gotta sell this toy or that toy etc. Unless the scratch is so big you can't wait to scratch it, I'd wait until these bubbles are resolved.....particularly the DEBT bubble.

I was in the same boat you are three years ago. I wanted a good looking 930 that was at least minimally mechanically sound. I expected to put at least $5k in repairs for unseen issues, which I did. (New belts/fluids/tires/hoses/etc) For about a third of the prices now, I was able to find one that was posted on ebay with 74k miles. Within six hours of the posting, i had struck a deal with the seller contingent on inspection. The car passed ppi/leakdown and I grabbed it. I am very fortunate that the car has appreciated, because repairs have been hefty. An on-track mishap resulted in lower end rebuild (broken head studs/rebuilt transmission) $14k. Over the last three years, I've averaged $4k a year in maintenance/repairs/and a few mods, etc... Averaging 4k miles per year. It still needs another $6-8k in work to get to almost show condition. But I also track the car, which does add to the maintenance. Bottom line I guess, is that, in the long run, you will still spend a lot of money for a well running, showable 930, regardless of the purchase price.
But without a doubt, considering at the time, I could not afford a $60k showpiece, I would absolutely do it again. You do get what you pay for. But the car is just so exhilarating to drive and I smile every time I go in the garage, that I have no second thoughts or buyer's remorse. Plus with values going up like they are, it is probably hard to go wrong on a 930 at the moment.

I agree with Shannon123, I believe we are in a bubble but prices are beginning to moderate, 964 turbo's have been really insanely priced but are beginning to flatten, as mentioned previously your budget too weak to consider a turbo, but good luck anyway.

I have a nice drivable one for sale in Houston slant nose 930 turbo?
Have a 83k mile one, it's in good shape that runs and drives great,
It's been parked for a while,
Needs a paint job for sure,
Has over 14k in wheels and tires. 3.3 turbo inner-cooled 4-spd,
Interior is good, will need sun visors,
Just let me know,
johnjohninht@gmail.com
Will send Picts if needed, have a clean tx title in hand,
Black on black with 2 ordered options, car cover, it's a rare one, u don't see this one here a lot, it has a 928 type slant nose, only 13 was imported, I have 1,
Will take a best offer, just please no low ***** as I won't respond, this is much more rarer then the normal, wide body factory, all org, but again will need restored to much more body then anything.
It will also be posted on eBay in a week or so if I don't sell it here, which I have not tried yet. Ordered new tail lights and starter motor, goes with car.
Plus to much to list,
This is number 254 number car on title made Germany, and again 13 was imported here, this is the number 12 I believe? But will confirm with all,
Thanks again
John
