ME TOO Stupid happy waving people. I hate them all!!!!!
I need a 930
Actually Matt,
I have always been surprised how many 944 owners are actually "status buyers". If anything, probably more so than 930's....... because the 930 is a classic type which requires a certain taste, while the 944 is easily obtainable and, in good shape, appears to be worth much more than it actually is.
I've had several 944 owners not wave back, or "fail to acknowledge me" I think 944 owners SUCK.
We should ALL buy 924's

Here are the types of Porsche owners I choose not to associate with:
Those who bought the car because of the badge
Those who act like one or two models are the only ones which represent a real Porsche
Those who talk down another car (i.e. 911 guy to a 944 guy, or 944 guy to a 914 guy)
Those who come to track events and Autocross events and badmouth other cars (some of us can't afford $100,000 cars you know)
It is a real shame....let's face it, owning these cars (914 to 996 TT) is about liking the make, style and what the car manufacturer stands for. I got tired of hearing all kind of crap from people about the 944..
Isn't that the cheap one?
Those aren't that fast!
Doesn't that have a lot of VW parts?
Who cares? I didn't buy the car because of how much or little it cost. I could afford a 930 if I wanted one, but I have chosen to keep what I have. I bought it because I liked the way it looked, handled and performed overall. My 944 is one of the best cars I have ever owned. Bullet-proof engine and trans with great durability.

"Isn't that the cheap one?" - dead on with that one. I experienced it the other day, in fact.
I pulled in to the Texaco. I live in NJ so other people pump my petrol. Anyway, a young-er attendant commented "hey, nice, a porsche" and the old, crusty, bitter looking one who was pumping the gas [irony] noted <b>"Oh, it's just a cheap one."</b> ..
Besides being plain old mean, the comment is just untrue. True, the initial purchase price may be low .. but for what myself and others have spent on maintenance/blood/sweat/tears for these things, we could have easily leased something "uncheap" such as a Boxster S

****.. 930 owners get that too, however, mostly from non-porschephiles/owners. I always have to deal with haters commenting on the fact that my porsche is "an old one" (in a deragatory tone), about how the whaletail's tacky, or about how so and so's mustang, camaro, hopped up MR2, BMW M3, yugo, integra, etc. beat a porsche (never specific as to which model).
i hate haters. can ya dig it?

Yep .. it's super ironic that on the other hand I receive some people that say "Wow, you must be rich, a brand new Porsche?" and I calmly point out to them that it's an '87 and that the soft leather-interior option on their new Ford Expedition or whatever probably cost more than my entire car...

<---just bought a 79 930...i'll never be a snob. the only time that i'll even seem to be one, it's only cuz i'm shy...and don't want people thinking "look at the 930, guy must be stuck up".
i'll pimp a $200.00 honda, and look down in my 930. my car is only about my need, and i've needed a 911/930 since i was 5. everyone is right...judge the driver, not the car. i've worked from a 912, to a 944, to the 930, and they all have their pluses and minuses. and they are all porsche. <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />
