Post Need help with value of 15x8/9 BBS Race Wheels w/magnesium centers

Wheels are extremely light 12/13lbs. Fronts are 15x8 and rears are 15x9. Last used on 930. Any idea of value. Selling for a friend.
Thanks,
Todd

Hi Todd:

I cannot tell you what those wheels are worth, but I can tell you that they should not be used on any car unless the centers are Zygloed,..........

I usually send those to BBS for that purpose. Magnesium is very delicate and has a short life span, compared to alumium alloy wheels.

Steve,

What is Zygloed? Does this lifespan issue apply with the newer BBS race wheels? That must be why they don't recomend them for the street.

Zyglo is a fluorescent penetrant that is used to check for cracks and other structural flaws in the wheel. Clean the wheel, spray on the zyglo, let it sit and then hit it with a special light. In theory I guess you could do it yourself, but I probably would want someone with experience in interpreting the results to have a look. A structural engineer could probably do it, or you might be able to find someone at a local airstrip.
