Post old BBS wheels

Just curious if anyone has some info on the older BBS wheels that were popular in the late 70's and 80's. Were they strong wheels? Does BBS still make them. What are they worth in comparison to Fuchs. I'm interested in some 16x8's and some 16x10's but I just don't know much about them. Also were they forged wheels? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Eric

I was told to have the older wheels Checked for cracks. Which you'd need to probably get something like a Zyglo Kit.I forgot what the chemical is that is used for it.I had looked at getting some older wheels as well, due to the fact they were cheaper than what is new out there. But it's kinda buyer beware. It was even suggested to have them x-rayed.
Be careful.

older BBS wheels are great wheels and they're forged, which makes them better (stronger and lighter) than practically every new wheel except new forged wheels. as to having them x-rayed or zyglo'd, i think that's only recommended when dealing with BBS magnesium racing wheels. standard BBS wheels are aluminum alloy and are very strong.

I have the RS wheels of circa 80's that came with the car. Found out from BBS that they no longer produce rim halves for these wheels nor bolts anymore. So beware if you think you might ever need repairs.

My understanding is that for BBS race rims, they do not recommend repair.
