old 930 still rules R/T 0-100-0 contest.

No doubt a stock Euro version M3 would smoke a stock US version 930...problem is I don't see too many stock 930's running around. The USA versions, forget it. No doubt a modifed 930 will smoke an M3 most of the time...maybe not in all instances...but most of the time. Ask me how I know! The nice thing about a 930 is their ultimate potential and looks. The M3 is max'd out...and it looks like an advertisement for a "body-kit" manufacturer.

Ok this 89 930 was a heavily modified Slant nose with some 600+hp. There was nothing stock about the car except for the shell. When making comparisons these "little" details help! Nothing against a 930, but there is no way on god's green earth a stock 89 930 will beat an Enzo or a 996tt for that matter.

M3 is maxed out? I think you are badly mistaken. I have no wish to modify my M3 as I bought it for daily transport with a kick, however Hamman motorsport have done a little (read a lot) tuning on these cars with significant results!
The E46 M3 is the most subtle yet, some would say too subtle, very little in fact to distinguish it astheticaly from any other E46. Anyone who owns a wide body 911 with a massive whale tail has a cheek having a stab about bodykits Rick. Don't ya think?

No it wasn't a stab, it was an opinion... I "personally" think the M3 looks clunky and unrefined in comparison to the 930. I am not saying that the M3 is a bad looking car either...just non-descript. Last time I checked there was a reason for my whaletail other than just ego.
Ultimately the 930 is capable of going faster than the M3 without going to a tube frame.

Guys - e46 m3 weighs 30% more than a 930. Look at power to weight.
As for acceleration, look at torque - 930 is a BIG winner there. Any late e46 that out accels a 930, is running against a 930 with boost issues or timing issues (cis).
I have driven the SMG e46, and while it detroys the 930 in handling, I wouldn't want to pay for Hoosiers for that thing if I were running it at Lime Rock.

I know...I am just having fun, and I don't mean it at your expense. I would be saying the same things if I had a Euro version M3 sitting in my driveway. Sounds like you have the best of both worlds.

The 0-100 time was not beaten. The 930 still rules this part. If you were to take the 930's 0-100 time, add the 996's 100-0 time(add ABS to the 930) then the 930 is right there with the ENZO. Not bad for a 14 year old old beater. Us 930 owners can still take pride in our cars.

Well from the post it seemed like you were talking stock. If you're talking heavily modified it's kind of pointless to say "the 930 hasn't been beaten" You can put a motor so powerful it's stupid in ANYTHING including a honda. As disgusting as it is they've gotten them to run 8 second 1/4 mile (in tube frame form) and in the 10's based on a street car.

I can't speak to what m42 racer quoted since I did not read the article, but this post digressed into several topics within a topic. As far as the 0-100 times, I found the parallel interesting...is it not true? It's not out of the realm of possibilities. How the M3's end up in these discussions always provides some level of amusement, and I guess I am partly to blame for getting sucked into that part of the discussion.

Mines stock!!! Uhh. At least until I find some more money to make it un-stock. Im currently drooling over that Imagine Auto Stage 2 upgrade. I need to hit the lottery or start pimping.
