Wailing Blower Motor

Wailing Blower Motor
The wailing sound coming from the fresh air blower motor is unbearable. Can the collective knowledge here help me? Dispose and replace? Is it the motor or what? Can I, an average backyard garage mechanic, do this? Or, does lubricating something solve the problem? IIRC I did this on an older 911, but I can't remember what I did. Thanks in advance.

I had that problem with a Mercedes Benz, took the blower motor out, the carbon brushes had worn out, and making hudge noise because were crooked on the guides.
Took them out went to hardware store bought similar brushes for a Makita Saw, trimmed them with sand paper and replaced them. Worked perfecltly and cost me USD10.
Taking the blower out was the Pita, but on the Porsche it is the trunk and easier to get at.
