Default 930 pressure plate failure

Has anyone heard of a pressure plate failing after 5 years/10k miles on a normally driven street 930? My mechanic says there is rust on the flywheel, which caused it to fail. How would the flywheel become rusty? The car is garaged but is unheated and detached in New England. How does anyone own a 930 inSeattle? Thanks in advance for any input.

The flywheel could become rusty because the pressure plate was not engaging the clutch plate fully. The failed pressure plate caused the rust on the flywheel and not the other way around, IMO

New England weather has nothing to do with the flywheel getting rusty. By the nature of how a flywheel transfers the engine power to the wheels it should never be rusty.

Didn't one of your goombas say your problem was the pressure plate and not the hydraulics a year ago?
