Wheels for a 930...(Fuchs 17")
#16
Easiest would be to jack up the car, remove a wheel, lower on a block and load the suspension, then measure by hand. There was a wheel fitment template I used in the past... Let me see... If I recall, I used this one...

no spacers... a redundant part that adds weight and complexity. a porsche cost cutting measure left over for standard SC fuchs for te 75-80 930 cars i reckon.
both wheel companies would have the dimesions of 930 fitaments with or without spacers. i know braids has em in hand already. im trying to get the wheels out further if possible.

My understanding is the spacers were left over from using 911 parts in the early homologation cars. e.g. the early 930s had front spacers and weld-on fenders. The later cars did not. I ordered my BBSs with the spacer dimension manufactured into the hub. This is stronger, has the same final offset, and keeps the stock studs. Then if I want to put another set of wheels on, I just put the spacer back. I also need to carry the spacer for the spare wheel.

I have gotten some answers and I can share some offline, and then we can share publically and help others...

Wheel update:
After a lot of research on various suppliers and products, cast vs. forging, desperately looking for a US manufacturer (my personal preference), style, cost and timing, I decided to go with the Fikse "Specialty" series. Frankly, I was surprised regarding the number of suppliers where you can get this style of wheels...
I can write a short essay on this topic now, so please feel free to PM me if you are thinking about wheels for your 930, etc.
My findings:
+These wheels are forged
+100% made in Canada (BC)
+3-piece with hidden bolts so that the front face of the wheel looks "stock"
+ I can get 9X17 and 11X17 and they should fit!
+They can do any offset - I will go with custom offset and eliminate the 28mm spacer (personally I don't like spacers when you can avoid them, and wheel studs are easy to change)
+ You can get them in any finish you like, and I will go with stock look: (STANDARD Finish – Black center, bright outer shell representative of the 1974-89 era Fuchs* aesthetic)
+ Delivery time is around 4-5 weeks as the wheels are custom made
+ Fikse makes these wheels for others such as Singer Porsche, etc.
+ The only thing that I need to decide today before I order are traditional wheel lip versus an optional J-Lip which makes the wheels a little bit stronger. I am leaning towards factory look as I will not be tracking this car.
I will post pix once the wheels arrive, and I start working on this car!

There's a key piece of info missing from there, I think. Cost! I think they charge differently depending on the finish you choose but what's the charge for, effectively, Fuchs of the same design as I currently have now but bigger.

(I have been hording parts of cars for a long time, and I have a set of 16" 930 Fuchs for the car too, but I have my heart set on the 17's)

Panzerfaust/Igooz - If Braid could do a run of old style Fuchs 17"s in 9" fronts and 11" rears I'd be all in! The Zuffenhaus Fuchs are very nice but the price just went up to ~ $5,600/set.

Before you get too excited about Fuches in 9 and 11x17, make sure you verify tire availability. A couple of years ago I sold mine and went to 18s because it was getting very hard to find good track tires... Now I run 18x9/11 and use GT3 size rubber 235/295-18. If it's for a GT3, there will always be tires...

Based on my research, Braid makes an excellent wheels also - I think that they are made in Germany.

uninformed gas bag
(contemplating on whether gas bag is one or two words)

Thank you! I bought a set of Fuchs (tribute ) from Fikse in 17" with custom backspace, forged, made in Canada, etc. I cannot say enough good things about the product, quality, and their responsiveness. I posted pix here in another thread.
