Default 89 turbo stops running after 1 hour

After driving for about 1 hour the car basically turns off; no backfire, no pre-indication, it just loses power. Then it will not start. The fuel pump relays and fuses have been checked as well as the CD unit, coil and distributor. The CD unit was replaced and it appeared to be running fine. Then it failed a second time.

Any suggestions please?

Upon further investigation, the CD unit has failed again. Any thought on what might be causing the CD to fail?

Are you sure it's the CD box? I had a 73 911 that had an issue with the CD box.
From my experience once the CD box goes...it's done ....and you won't be able to restart the car later.
I would search this forum and pelican for the procedure to test the CD box and find out if it's alive or dead. Could you have a bad ground or a loose wire that is grounding out?

Thanks Menmojo, you are right, when the CD unit goes it's done. I am having 1 rebuilt and will replace it again. What puzzles me is the cause of it failing.

When mine went, i could restart the car after 10 min (cool down). Then ran for 30 mins then ran no more.
Automan is there a reason you are not switching to a MSD unit ?

Dual plug, SC cams, k27 blower, and crank trigger the ignition - you know you liked mine that way. Ask Rene when I am getting it back from Drew?
