Default '87 T U R B O on ebay Red-27k miles...... $90,000

Hi all,

Most of you will remember the near-concours red '87 Turbo I sold in October (photos below).

The Bentley/Lamborghini dealer in Chicago has this '87 Turbo for sale on ebaYfor $90k ! ! ! !

This car is an exact comparison (a twin) to the '87 I sold three months ago for $65k ... the same year, color, mileage, sport seats and condition except the Turbo I sold had a black interior and a rare & far more desirable optional "Sport" steering wheel !

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1987-...item3a7cd1e960

It is rewarding to see that the popularity and values for "Good" early Turbos are catching up to their siblings; the 356, swb 911, early S, etc.

WOW .... $90K ...... I knew I sold mine toooooo cheaply !

Oh well...... there is one happy guy driving a Red '87 Turbo around Baltimore !

Best,

Chuck

$90K seems a bit steep to me. Of course it is fleabay which is more of a marketing and advertisement tool. I think you did very well at $65. How bad to you miss her?

The eBay one has no alarm. I thought that was pretty much standard. In my long search I dont recall seeing one without. Is that common?

That surprised me too. Has anyone else seen that on a well-kept car?

That doesn't look like a 27k motor.

What Am I missing here? Looks like a 25 yr. old engine that has not been detailed, and probly not even out of the car. Advertised as a documented one owner car. (at that price it better be)

The book has stamps up to 93' and 18400 on the clock and now the car 20 years later has only 9000 miles more on it? It (the motor) just doesn't look right for a pampered 27000 mile car.

Just my opinion.

If it had the original pads and rotors still in it that (at least in the rear) would tell me a lot more.

I was just looking at the 3rd photo down of the red 930, did '87's come without the Kunstharzlack (paint code) metal tags in the door hinge area?

The early cars had that. For that year the paint code would be on the the label that is (or is supposed to be) stuck to the underside of the trunk as well as another paint tag on the inner fender.

I like it. I think you would need to see it in person before making final judgement. Two offers from the same bidder have been declined.
