Hey Mic

Did you do anything to your 915 to enhance durabilty? I have a 930 motor in my SC with the stock 915. I am very happy with it so far.
Thanks Dean

Mic,

My shift pattern is different from what you describe. I have an 89 911 Turbo Cabriolet and the shift pattern has reverse left and up. In fact it is easy to get mixed up between first and reverse since they are both left and up; reverse is just further left.

I have gotten into the habit at a stop light of shifting into first and then into second, then back into first. Just to make sure I'm in the right place.

If you were to compair the Turbo-G50 to the G50 from the C2 5 speed you would of find the Turbo much stronger BUT you would find that the ratios on the std G50 or much better. First gear alone is almost 20% lower at a 3.1 -v- a 3.8. This will make the car seem much faster over the 4 speed and even the turbo 5spd. a hot setup would be the Turbo 5 spd with C4 2-5. Still slow off the line but much closer gears.

you are right. I wrote that email when i was 1200 miles away from my car. I noticed the error when i got home.
Anyhow. I know exactly what you mean about the 1st gear. I am also getting in the habit of checking if i am in first at a light.

Someone asked if I had done anything to enhance the durability of the 915. I did have my mechanic install synthetic fluid after replacing the 2nd gear syncro. I expect that this will help.
