Sameer,

The car is otherwise stock (meaning BTR spec, 3.4 cylinders,Ruf intercooler, Ruf cams, turbo). It has the Ruf 5 speed, European fuel (since no turbo's were officially imported in 1985) and stock ignition except for the MSD.

Erik,
thanks for the info. My car has all the Ruf bits accept I'm still using the 4 speed tranny with K Jetronic. I also replaced the Ruf intercooler with the Kokeln and find it better.

Talking

Just dredging up an old topic. These slant nose 930's are akin to the alien space ship sightings being reported everywhere. You just don't know if they are real or not!

First, according to the Porsche 911 Red Book, no 89 911 turbo s/n were built at the factory. Although that doesn't mean none were built for special order conversions at the factory, has anyone out there actually seen and authenticated one?

My question is this: does anyone know if any of the 3.2 Carrera's with the Turbo Look option were converted to s/n at the factory? I'm specifically interested in the '85 model year when I believe there were about 44 s/n turbos special ordered from the factory.

Happy Snipe Hunting!

<<Also, I don't recall what the "S" differences were on 930's, but that may affect the value considerably too>>

My understanding is that "930S" means factory slant nose with boxed rockers and vented rear fenders. However, I know that some 930S cars were special ordered with "normal" front fenders, but boxed rockers and vented rear fenders.

The production numbers for a 930S were:

Total World production:
1981: 1
1982: 38
1983: 35
1984: 34
1985: 44
1986: 52
Total US production (other than US production)
1987: 200 (33)
1988: 278 (18)
1989: 147 (32)

I do not know the brakedown of Coupe, Targa and Cabs in the US market.

$55K is wild. If it is a factory slant--check to see if the rear brake ducts are functional, if the boxed rockers have the jack covers---but that's just a clue--need Certificate of Authenticity to confirm. If it's real, it's worth $40 to 45.
