I'm thinking about selling my 1987 930. I bought the car with the intention of keeping it and driving it, but I've put less than 200 miles on it in the past 4 months. As you can see in the pics, I have a 997 Turbo and a 996 GT3, so it just gets started and moved once a week. I'm not really sure why I thought three cars get driven more than two.
About the car -
VIN WP0JB0936HS051059, clean autocheck
Black on Black, original paint, no sunroof coupe
78k miles
Original engine
Original 4 Speed transmission
17" Replica Fuchs, brand new
New Nitto tires
Aftermarket Exhaust
930S Wheel (still have original)
No other mods
No oil leaks, dry as a bone
Leakdowns performed on 2/24/2012 - all 4-6%
Exterior is a 8/10 (being critical)
Interior is a 8/10 (being critical)
Car is maintained by Poudre Sports Car in Fort Collins, CO

Not trying to be a dick but if you feel you spent a lot of money on those seats they should at least not have those wrinkles in them.

a car in that shape should command north of 40k. just as a reference my car was in very similar condition with 72k miles, perfect all around and i got 41500 I originally asked 45k then reduced to 42.5k after a month then sold for 41.5k best of luck great looking example, mine was black too sure looks good when clean, looking at yours makes me miss mine.

930s continue to do very well in the market in terms of resale value. But, I was saying this 7-8 years ago that the cars had bottomed out and were ready to start rising. I think part of that is the massive number of turbos that followed the 930, combined with the somewhat tough market for 996 turbos. People are wanting to hold off and find the right older turbo.
The key to any 930 is maintenance and care. Sounds like you are on top of yours with a fine toothed comb, so the ones without any bugaboos (aside from perhaps a/c that sucks *****) will command a premium. I think the prior posters probably hit the target price point. At the end of the day, a car is worth what someone is willing to sell it for and buy it for. There are always instances of phenomenal deals and overpriced impulse buys. After throwing those out, I think its safe to say finding very very nice 930s of any year for under $40k is becoming more difficult.
And the reason for that is simple: far more people want these cars than people wanting to sell them. At least the good ones. There will always be a ringing phone for someone selling a nice 930. And the seller will have his pick of potential buyers. Bettter yet, he has the luxury of time in waiting on the right buyer at the right price.
Unlike a lot of used car sales, almost nobody that owns a 930 uses it at their daily driver. But you can daily drive a 996 turbo. So 930 owners are selling a second car in nearly every case. They can afford to wait for the right price because they have other wheels to drive. Unless that is they are destitute and need quick cash -- but thats not your typical genre' of a 930 owner.

^^well put
I bought mine a yr ago, I had been watching it for about a yr at a local dealer. I knew the car well, 40k mile 10/10 original 505 slant, somebody spent a ton restoring it in 2008. They were asking 100k initially, eventually lowered to 65k, I got it for 50 and change after 13 mos on the lot. Since buying it I've been offered 70 and I'm not even looking to sell!

I admit I was tempted .......but I had just bought the car I lusted after for a year, and if you factor in taxes etc you're only talking a 10k delta. Not enough to make me jump.

Thanks to all for the great info - you guys rock. I think I'll list it for $43-45k and wait for the right buyer. I'm in no rush, it has a good home in my garage until the right person comes along.
