Default 87 Turbo coupe "summer yellow"

I just bought a 87 Turbo coupe in summer yellow which seems to be pretty rare, Apparantly only 5 911's were made in summer yellow for 1987. Is there a way for me to find out if my car is a one-off production. I read three of the other summer yellow 911's were not turbos. Not sure the accuracy of these claims but i sure would like to know.. TIA for any info.

There were about 1600 turbos imported in '87...Plus a handful of Targas and Cabs. Summer Yellow was offered as an exterior paint color for '87 and '88, and maybe '89. So I think you're a little optimistic..But I do believe it's a rare colored car, but not close to what you've been told. I've seen both a 930 and a 911 here in So-cal.....Please post pics, it's a beautiful color, especially in bright sunlight...Congrats

I don't know kids, guess I'll have to reserve any further comment on the color yellow until the original poster posts some picts. Yellow works on only a select few cars, IMHO. One that I can remember it working on...through a haze of mind expanding substances back in the early 70's at college - was a '71 'Cuda with uncorked headers. Now that screamed yellow!

I'm with you Mark....when yellow cars started to make a comeback in the early 90's, I was really hoping it was just a short lived phase. Unfortunately however...it seems to be lasting waaay toooo loooong! Althought, I saw a real nice 1920's Stutz Bearcat that looked good in yellow, but as far as a 930...I too will wait until I see a picture this car.

No matter what though, we all need to keep in mind...different strokes for different folks, it's all good in the end.

Mark

Great color. Yellow just sets off a Porsche 911.

I miss my Carrera . . . .

That does look nice. It's kind of a creamy yellow, not too strong and glaring at all. Nice contrast with the black accents. I like it.
