Hi Guys:
About to buy some forgeline SO3 Wheels:
http://www.forgeline.com/products/pe...large=1&asdf=1
The sales rep said if I don't want to use spacers for the rears, the lip will be 4" deep. With spacers, it will be a 3" lip. I am planning for 8" fronts, 10" rears. Obviously, there are those who say NOT using spacers has better integrity, but I am open to either method.
I have been searching and searching for images and posts of 930 owners who have 4" lips; very few to be found. I am looking for anyone's opinions or comments if they own, or have seen 4" polished lips. Overkill? Racerboy look? Classy?

I read somewhere there was a minor concern about going up to 18". Do a search. Was not a big deal, but I cannot remember the reasoning (good or bad) about keepiing the diameters to 17" or less.

I've been running 17" fronts @ 8.5" with 255's & 18" rears @ 11" with 295's for over 3 years now. The only issue that I have is that the 255 fronts rub a bit on the windshield washer tank filler tube at full right lock{of course my car is stupid low however}. Other than that no issues at all.

For my street 930 I prefer 17's because I prefer the look (at least on older 930), lighter weight, tire height (bit more street hazard protection) and still good tire choices/availability. Deep dish is a popular look and losing the spacers is good. 8" to 8.5" with 245/45-17 is excellent fronts for the street and zero fitment issues. Also balances well with 10" with 295 rears. Bit more care required for fitting 11" and 315 but very doable (as cool as it looks to have so much meat on the road, question I always ask is do you really need it?). IMHO. YMMV.

I have 18" rims on mine with a 4" lip on the back and have no issues. I think 930's look great with about any wheel, but I really like the way the 18's fill out the wheel well.

I would leave room for a 1/2" spacer which gives you some room to position the wheel in the opening. I've noticed that the fender openings aren't always exactly the same. Also side wall bulge differs. On the rear I either run 11x17's w/315 Goodyears which have a slab side or a 13x15 Fuchs w/Michelin TB15 335's which have an old school bulge. On the front, either 9x17's w/245/35/17's or 8x15's w/215's. Tire widths between tire manufactures also vary.
The 18's would give a little stiffer ride and a slightly better response with a shorter side wall.
