Default CV Joint Installation Need Help

When I removed the engine and tranny I found the Circlip from one joint fell out on the floor. I think the CV joint was installed wrong. Now I am not sure which way the joint is installed. I think the spring or beveled washer goes on the outside of the joint(toward the wheel) and the clip holds the CV on the axel without a washer. This was how the other axel was. None of my manuals show the detail of the CV assembly. Also, not able to find a source for new Circlips.

Beveled washer goes on the INSIDE of the joint up against the shoulder on the axle itself. PET has a decent exploded view of the components.

Thanks for the info. I never even thought the PET pages were available on line. Learn something new each day.

One more detail. Which surface of the inner race of the CT joint goes against the spring washer? I assume it is the flat side and not the side with a raised shoulder. And where can I find new Circlips?

The beveled washer that came with the supposedly OEM kit will let the entire shaft past thru. Do I need another circlip to put on the shaft before the beveled washer?
Thanks,
