Default Market test for an 89 RUF

Happy New Year Rennlisters,
Over the holidays I did some driving around visiting dealers and found a Ruf 930 BTR is in fact for sale. I saw it about 3 years ago, at which point the owner was undecided. Now its officially up for sale.
I dont know a lot about it apart that the owner spend crazy bucks on it and the hood and doors look like carbon fiber.

Your input will be greatly appreciated

hahaha, I saw that one and was thinking about posting it here. I guess the reserve wasn't met or something 'cause when I saw it yesterday, there were 52 bids and it was at $151,000.00

sorry, I think I'm getting my forums mixed up! hahaha......the bids and price I saw was for a '79 M1, I think. I did see the Yellow bird for sale, though. What a nice car!

rufrob - in the last picture, it looks like there's bubbles on the hood. Did you see that when you looked at the car or is that a reflection of some kind?

There is bubbling due to poor paint adhesion to the carbon fibre.

it looks very similar to my car....
http://vintageandsportscar.com/rvsch...F_BTR_III.html

And the rotors are cracked, just like mine. On order for about 3,000 Euros... Ouch

Looks nice, but a little neglected. Count on $20k to sort it out.

Shaved gutters
Ruf front and rear 330mm 'CTR' brakes with 2 piece rotors
Ruf lightweight front and rear bumper covers
Recaro seats with Sabelt 2" belts
Yoko A032R (or similar) R compound tires
Carbon hood (never seen this from RUF, but maybe)
Roll Cage by Matter ? (Likely)
CIS or Motronic?

Mine is a 92 BTR III, which is pretty close to this car, apart from having a 964 styling update. Of the 10 or so other BTR's that I've seen (of the 100 or so made) this is the only other one with shaved gutters and CTR brakes. This is quite a potent track car. Not sure if it is Motronic (a $10k option), or CIS.

With some love it will be a great car. Are you buying it?

Cheers, Lawrence.

There sure seems to be a rather large number of discrepences with this car, looks alot more like your typical Japanese SC or 930 conversion to me.
What does the VIN # tell you?? I've read that RUF kept very good records of their cars. Others on this forum with better knowledge should be able to help out with that.
