Looks like a lot of work Jean, but if you get it for the right money, and you want to add a 930 to the stable, then why not!
Would you bring it back to stock, or will you mod the hell out of it?

Thanks Mark. Yes a lot of misconception about the Middle East Beach, ski and voted in the top 10 (or sth. like that) party town in the world. Google Beirut nightlife images

Yasin, Thanks for the kind words. I come across mistreated air cooled cars quite often in this part of the world and it drives me nuts. Problem is I collect them but never have time to finish them or drive them, shipping parts (especially body parts) all the way here is also very expensive. I have three Porsche projects on my hands right now, and spend only 1-2 days a week on average at home. Yes as Green rightly said, this is in the mountains around Beirut city.

Turbo-OH Brad, thanks for looking it up. This must be a US database maybe. I was just told that the car was imported from Germany by the previous owner. Once I check myself the VIN tomorrow I will be able to know more + the engine S/N.

Quadcammer, I believe it depends on moods, I can understand how many people can like the DP bodywork for sure..currently I am more inclined to take all these cars back to stock... Even my 993TT/GT2 is on its way back to stock, engine and all

Hey Jon Had a couple of 930s in the past and always wanted to go back to one, but buying a perfect one is not for me I guess. Yes it would remain stock, not even 1bar spring!!! Even bought a stock 993TT engine for my 993 and all!

Sorry to hear about your car, hope you get it sorted quickly If you feel like going the 3.8 twin plug Garrett route I might be able to help LOL

Jean, stock maybe for the best, and just enjoy it for what it is..... Have a load of stock 930 bits in the garage if you need anything, cams, turbo, airbox etc etc..... Let me know if i can help.

Would love to go 3.8 twin plug! But i'm all in with the 520 RS tuning package now, spent a fortune getting it this far...... To be honest, the car had as much power as you could safely use with 520ps, any more and i honestly think it would end up in a tree! No problem with this power in a 993, 4WD and the extra weight, but in my little 930 with no ABS and 2WD with no traction control it's bloody vicious!

It's very sad that it dropped a valve, can't believe my luck..... But the guys on here are helping me out with heads, P&C's etc, Felix is being a big help too!

The car is a german car.
the VIN you provided is missing the WP0 as you said, and the letter Z before the year,
so this VIN WP0ZZZ93ZDS000560 on the decoder gives:

Model year: 1983
Model ID: 911
Engine Code KW HP Liter Cylinders Model
930.66 221 300 3,30 6 911 TURBO
930.66 221 300 3,30 6 911 TURBO (CANADA)

Transmission Code: 930.34

Options found on your vehicle.
Option Code Description
M058 Impact absorbers, front and rear
M186 2-point seat belts, rear manual
M197 Stronger battery
M220 Locking differential 40 %
M261 Door mirror - flat - passenger's side, electrically adjustable and heatable
M469 Black roofliner
M499 Version for Germany
M559 Air conditioner
M650 Electrical sliding roof

The following codes were found, but the description may not be accurate.
Option Code Possible Description
I577 Carrera GT luggage set, Ascot Brown

We were not able to find definitions for any codes below this line.
I327
I455

I have tried the VIN look-up with auto-check and nothing comes out, which is normal for a ROW vehicle

Sorry for the lack of follow up..

Jon, I would stick to the RS stuff for sure. These high performance 3.8 twin plug builds are a lot of fun but generate more heat and are more fragile too. Good luck with the repairs.

Geolab, great info thanks!. See that Beirut on your sig too Let me know when you visit, I might be there as well.

You are right about the VIN, the car papers had a digit missing, I checked out the VIN and it is exactly what you said with the Z check digit. So German car.

They could not start the engine as the flywheel starter ring had some teeth damaged and the starter motor also. They need to drop the engine and get a replacement.. Which triggers some concerns about what happened there.

Most of the value of this car for me is in the engine, and as it could not get started it dropped my interest instantly. Once you look closely, the body had a poor repaint job done on it, I am not a fan of the fenders so they need to be changed (owner gives the original ones with the car though), the rear tail is not original, the rear bumper either and I would need to buy the headlights and front bumper to make it look stock.. Interior needs a new dash and carpet, etc.. Also, the original colour seems to have been white, not black.

Not worth it. So I passed.

I thought Cedars of Lebanon was just a company that made hummus.

Note the two littles asterisks at the bottom.. There is no "Z" digit on this VIN.

Am I mistaken?
The VIN for a ROW '84 should be WP0ZZZ93ZES000000, with the last digits the vehicle build sequential number.

It's probably missing the "Z" between the "3" and the "D"......plus the WP0 as you mentioned. Looks an '83, but you should verify both locations on the driver's door jam and under the front bonnet, stamped near the smugglers compartment.
