Default Strange engine #

Hi,

I'm very confused by the engine # in the picture below. 1082001 is a very odd number for a 1977 930 engine.

Can someone help?

Thanks,

That is odd. The 930/53 is indeed a 77 3.0L turbo motor but the serial number should be 6870001 and up.

930.53 3,0L 6 1977 Porsche 911 TURBO CARRERA (USA)(CDN) (180Kw / 245Hp) 6870001 >>

The PS may mean something though. I thought I read somewhere that it meant that the case was a replacement case. The other thing that is odd is that the stars before and after the serial number are missing.

See this page for serial number chart http://www.porscheresource.com/Docs/...ine_codes.html
