Yes, you can build wheels with out the spacer.
I built my 18" BBS wheels using the spacer, but wish I hadn't so I could get a deeper dish look. It's easy enough to do, you just have to make sure the wheel center clears the brake caliper. If you plan on going to big reds at some point, you might have to change the center and wheel halves again to clear them.

Sure you can build wheels to eliminate the stock spacer. Just make sure you include that 21 mm (IIRC that's how thick the spacer is) in calculating the wheel offset when you select a pattern for your wheel center.

Yes you can build the wheels to go on without stock spacers if the wheel centers clear the caliper. Then the origonal studs will stick out the wheel holes and look like crap.
You will still need to carry least an 18 or 21mm spacer to use the spare tire or it will hit the caliper before going on all the way. Not a good surprise in a flat tire emergency.
You can cut the studs down just enough to still use the spare tire with a 21mm spacer and the studs won't stick way out and look wrong for a street car.

Both front wheels are about 1/2" inboard of where they should be for a 930. Please call or email me directly if you would like to discuss a solution to this particular set of wheels.

Correct and if you don't feel like storing one of those thick 28mm spacers along with the spare tire and if you have an 18 or 21mm spacer sitting around unused it takes up less room in the trunk and works with the oem spare tire/steel wheel to clear the 930 caliper... if you ever need it.
Leave your wheel studs long enough to use it if you decide to shorten them so they don't stick way out beyond the more negative offset wheel center setup you are considering.

yes, it just depends how much work you want to do.
if you're good with die grinder and cut off wheel it's alot easier to cut them and bevel the sharp edges to finish them while the wheel is off and the hubs are on the car.
then brush a little black or silver enamel on the ends so they don't rust.
