Default Air Pump removal

Hello,

I recently removed the air pump out of my '86 930 in an on-going project to clean up unnecessary emissions. The problem is, the car will not start and if it does it doesn't stay on very long...I obviously screwed up somewhere! I plugged up the former hoses previously connected to the pump. My mechanic suggested making sure the intercooler is on correctly and even grounding it out on the chassis.
Not sure of that method but he is knowledgeable. Its a Powerhaus IC and this is my second time reinstalling it and its always a PIA. Any suggestions? The car was running great prior. I also tried starting with the hoses unplugged and different variations thereof.

Thanks
