Default F/S. 1987 RUF BTR Slantnose. 1st RUF VIN Car Imported to US.

That's right. Patient zero for RUF in the US (VIN 002). This is the first RUF imported into the US after RUF was recognized as a manufacturer in the US.

Priced at $89900.

Nice. I think these guys at least were the RUF reps in the US. I was at the Sebring Historics last Dec. and saw this car http://vconcours.proboards.com/index...lay&thread=144 I put it up on my site I loved it..staggering. The work RUF does is beautiful and let`s face it, that RUF mfg.plate means quite a bit. The yellow car was(and probably is) for sale too. But not this cheap(I am using cheap here in a relative way) The yellow car has the twin-turbo intercooler like a butterfly deal. But, I would buy this car in a second without much haggeling.

When it comes down to it a business is about the people behind the name. The name may change yet the people behind the name are the same.

Interesting car...but not $90,000 interesting. This car is priced way too optimistically by a factor of two. Ripped leather seats, and very worn interior (interior clips missing etc), very poorly presented engine bay that looks like a neglected 100,000mile car. Looks like a 4speed car? Ill fitting exhaust, poorly fitting front valance with inconsitant panel gaps....no compression or leak down results or details \ descriptions to represent the car.

It is a driver, not a museum piece. The seat is being repaired and the interior cleand up. Being a RUF, it is a five speed. Leakdown/compression checks are done by request when a client is ready to move down that road.

Out of curiosity Yasin...what's the basis for the $90k valuation? What was the original sticker on this car? It seems like it's priced as a museum piece but as you say...it's a driver. I'm guessing some of the value is in the fact that this is RUF 002?

I1ll just weigh in here for a second. Gooding (and RM) in Scottsdale just concluded. I am filling in the numbers on assorted interesting cars on my site, I was watching Gooding with interest . They had a bone stock 88 930 that did not make minimum (they were projecting between $60k and $90k.) They also had an 87 slant cab reasonable shape from what I could see that sold at $68,750. So do I think a Ruf slant is crazy at 89 or if it sells between 80 and 89 I would consider it well bought. Simple supply and demand.. this would be an icon. More than that these things are still nasty fast. I have never had mine on a dyno so I have no idea how much it is actually putting out but. I know I just blew by a NEW M3 in second gear..the old M3 was so slow in comparison it was funny. Think about it, a car more than 20 yrs. old that will do nothing but appreciate and still that fast and fun to drive...Everyone one loves the old 911(original) shape and this is the apex of that. ...prices will climb and this RUF will be worth much more in the future.
