Default Battery size and replacement.

So past couple months have been cold. My 87 wouldn't start without a jump. Has a larger size duralast in it. Think its the battery and not a drain because when it was warm every weekend it would start right up. I jumped it and let it run for 30 mins. Next morning was dead. Does the mount have two hole options? For bigger and smaller batteries? Mtp 93 is the bigger interstate with 850 cca and the smaller is Mtp91 with 650 cca. The book says both fit. What should I do? I have a new Mtp91 but don't want to install it if there is not a mount hole and 650 cca isn't enough. Get my drift.

I had the bigger battery but replaced it with a smaller battery when it died. If you pull your exisitng battery, you'll see another hole that you can bolt the battery down with the hold down.

Ok cool. I was also mistaken. interstate 91 has 700 cca and 93 which is the bigger battery has 850 cca. 700 should be fine. 930 rocket do you know what the cca of the smaller battery you put in is?

Ok so I guess I'm answering my own post. But good info. For others. There is 3 different battery hold down bolt holes. The ground cable is kind of short so the best way to go is the large size battery. Luckily there was no rust or damage under the battery for me. For all using an interstate the right one would be an Mtp 93.

Default Optima

I like to opt for Optima's Red Top SC 35/75 battery (which has the correct "reverse" post configuration for P-Cars).

Due to it's compact size, you'll need to either install a longer ground cable or add a "quick disconnect" (which will add enough length to the stock negative ground to reach the battery neg terminal).

I also add a custom aluminum mounting plate to secure the battery to the factory mounting points (using a 1/4" longer allen bolt to secure the plate due to the plate's 1/4" added thickness).

Optima batteries are completely sealed, hold a charge for extended periods and have more CA, CCA than the stock battery.

my 2 cents,
P Fan
