1987 930 with damaged floor pan?
Hello all,
I have been lurking here for awhile. Finding great info as I search for a 930 to buy. Looked at a 1987 yesterday w/. 77,000 miles. It has been sitting 7 years. As I was digging through the car, I found that the passenger side floor pan had damage. Looks like the previous owner ran over a large rock or something big. There is 4 foot dent running front to back. No puncture through the sheet metal. Anybody ever dealt with something like this? I couldn't get a picture.
Thanks for any input.

Thanks for the reply. I have been searching for more info but cant find very much. If I'm interpreting what I have read correctly, a dent that big could affect the alignment, suspension, etc.. The floor pan must be structural because it is a unibody?
This looked to have been a good deal at 15,000 bucks except for that.

You should see the pan on my daughters bug from her excursion into the woods. We fixed everything except that.
Just say'n there may be more to the story.

I hear ya, I know i'm Not getting the full story. I'm dealing with the eccentric wife who has the title signed over from her eccentric husband. If these cars werent so rare over here in Hawaii, I would already have walked away.

The fact that you likely could not see it from inside without the carpets removed suggests its limited to
the floor pan itself, maybe they ran over a steep curb or even more likely someone was'nt to prudent
when using the 'ole floor jack and just rearranged that part of the floor.
Regardless at that price i think it's a no brainer, particularly if everything else checks out!

Three Wheelin'
Is that the one on Maui? The early pics of the car had the IC sitting in the passenger seat as well as the airbox. I do hope these parts were on the car when stored as I'd hate to think of critters getting into the engine in those 7 years.
If this is the Maui car, please ask why the car was not driven for 7 years. There is a possibility it needed work and that is why it was put away.
