Default Opinion on Value 86 930

I have an opportunity to buy a 1986 930 with 22,000 miles on the car. The car is all original except mods done to the motor. The mods to the motor are twin plug, bigger (K27) turbo, euro injectors, Electromotive Distrbutorless Ignition, B&B Headers and exhaust, upgraded suspension, extrude honed cylinder heads and intake, new upgraded valves and valve guides, euro cams, bigger intercooler. I am sure I am leaving some items out but these are the main things. The owner read an article in Panorama or Excellence on building the baddest 930. He built the car to specs from the article. Was told the car had 430 RWHP. The car is Guards Red/Black and a very nice example. It has only had around 5K put on it since the work was done.

Any ideas on value? I am a little scared to buy a car modded so much. He should of just left it alone IMHO. What's it worth

If the mods were well done and thought out, then it will transform the car to it's potential. That doesn't necessarily mean shortened longevity, all dependant upon how the PO drove the car. It will be night and day different (in a good way) from stock.

Do you want a collector stock garage queen, or something that will make you smile and swear outloud everytime you drive it? In the right market for the correct buyer, those mods are a good selling point. As is, probably worth something over 30K considering the amount put into the mods. But I am not a pro on pricing cars.

Those are nice mods on a low mileage car. Assuming no issues and if the seller is not loosing car to bank you'll need approx 37K . If you get it for less just by it. I just bought a no issues car and it is the way to go spend now and drive or save by spending less upfront and have issues ..these are 25 year old cars and you need confidence to drive them 100 miles and back.

the real question is what is it worth to you?

agreed, 30-35 should do it. I have a 88 Turbo Cab I am just about to put it on the market for the same money.

Remember that with the mods this car has your average Pcar shop is not going to have a base line to do engine work. It may be that you will live in the same area that this engine was built and can use the same mech. Just realize that you may not be able to pull into any Pcar shop and say fix it with any confidence. If you are a pretty good wrench yourself then it won't matter. Sounds like a fun car with an awesome engine.
