Same old song...opinions/comments
checked out this car:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=10156
was told the asking price is....$59,900.00
The car is in really good condition(between an 8.0-9.0). I proceeded to discuss the car with the salesperson. I was told the engine had a full service just completed. I was also told the car was on consignment and that the current owner has had it for a few years. Original paint...blah blah blah
Well it was my turn to critique the car.
My findings were..
Front bonnet and rear engine cover struts were no good.
Two minor dings the left fender.
Aftermarket muffler.
Rear seat belt cover was torn.
Aftermarket stereo/amp..
And let's not forget 49k miles
Before you guys flame me...the only reason I pointed(what some may seam minor)things out was that IMO the asking price is ridicoulus. If someone is going to attempt to sell a car at such an unreal price then why not(at the very least) take car of such small outstanding items.
Would I have purchase such a car..ABSOLUTELY
At nowhere near their asking price..
I told the salesperson that my offer would be no more than $40k(which I feel is still a bit high)
Best part is another sales person jumped in and said they had a guy blowing up their phones with an offer of $45k...I told him he should rip that guys arm off and take the cash before it's too late..some sales people never change...same old song
Would love to hear some opinions..

I have the same car(red/black) and paid 32,xxx two years ago. It has a g-50 5 speed,k-27 turbo, powerhaus headers w/heat, borla exhaust, garretson intercooler, sport seats and no dings. Just won first in class 84-89 at the PCA zone one concours in Westbury, L.I. Tell that to the salesman and see what he say`s.....

Way over priced in todays market. If it was bone stock with 500 miles, and in perfect condition then maybe. I would not have even looked at that car listed at that price.

Funny you say that because something similiar is what I told the salesperson. I did not know the price before entering the dealer. Since it was local to me I decided to take a look. I guess they feel that for every seat there's an a$$.

I don't follow the later 930 market very closely but the market for the 76-77 carrera turbos is strong and good 78-79 930's seem to sell pretty quickly, not that many unmolested well cared for cars left.

While the price is on the high side. That is a good thing, it was scary to see these cars dipping into the low $20K..I even saw a decent '86 turbo hit $18K last year. I like the fact that the prices are crawling back up to where they should be.
To see a post where you are critiquing seat belt covers, aftermarket stereo and an aftermarket muffler makes me chuckle. Most people over the years have modified these cars to wake them up and improve them, the factory stereo and US spec muffler suck..no ifs, ands or buts.
Most of buyers focus on compression and leakdown and overall mechanical health not small aesthetic issues..these cars are approaching 25+years old..so be expected to find one with the odd bump, blemish and worn out part or two.
For a perfect car try Richard Sloan...but if you think $60K is high..wait until you see his prices.
