In my opinion, a clutch kit my cost around 1K plus labor. (about 8 hours x labor rate) The AC conversion question is to open ended. Is the compressor good, hoses, condenser etc. The min parts needed, is drier and 134A and compressor oil. If, the compessor is good the oil must be drain and refilled.

However, if not done so, consider getting a leak down and a compression test on the engine. Any other work that may be needed is a good idea to get it done while the engine is out. (Top end or oil leaks etc)

Hope this helps
