16" tire suggestions for '87 930 DD?

A buddy has a stock '87 930 that he uses for a daily driver, and it needs tires.
Original sizes are 205-55-16 and 245-45-16. Trouble is, that 245-45 size has been phased out by about every tire manufacturer (luckily, track tires are still available, I use the same size on my 944 Turbo Cup car.)
He really needs an all season tire, and it doesn't look like any are available. Tire Rack only has one street tire in that size, a Fuzion ultra perf summer tire. (They also show a closeout Conti Sport Contact, but have "less than two" in inventory...)
So unless he spends big bucks to upsize to 17's, it seems like the only real possibility is to downsize the rears to 225-50-16. If you do that, there are several great all-season tires available. (I have the new Conti DWS on another car, and love them.)
I know that narrower tires on the back is not ideal on these tail-happy cars. I guess you could upsize the front sway bar to compensate?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!

OK, new idea.
What about upsizing the diameter of the tires from 25" to 25.7"?
Yes, this would raise the car .3"
Then he could buy 215-55-16 and 245-50-16 tires. There are several A/S tires available in these sizes, including Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and Bridgestone RE 960.

I like that solution. I've got a pair of 245/45's in the garage that I'll slap on here soon, but when they wear out I'll be in the same boat that many are in when trying to keep to stock no-longer-available tire sizes.
Curious to hear other's views on this option.

How about 265-45-16
Some folks have used these on the 9" rears:
